Passchendaele 100 Battlefield Tour       

Beyond the Battlefield Tours invite association members and guests to accompany them on a three day tour of the battlefields of Messines Ridge and Passchendaele – 17 -19 November 2017.

The Suffolk & Norfolk Yeomanry Association will be taking part in a study of the Third Battle of Ypres.   This tour is structured for the elementary and experienced battlefield aficionado a like and will cover the Battles of Messines and Passchendaele over the three days.

We will be staying at the Flanders Lodge Hotel in Ypres on a B&B basis which will include a group meal at the hotel on the Friday night and packed lunches for both Saturday and Sunday.

New sites to be visited are to include:-

Plug Street Wood

Xmas Truce Site

Messines & Irish Tower

Polygon Wood

And of course no visit to the salient would be complete without attending the Menin Gate Ceremony, Ypres.

Pick up and drop off points will be at:

Norwich and Ipswich Train Stations

The cost per person for the weekend is £279.00 per person for members and £299.00 for non-members.   Entrance fees for the Ploegsteert Wood Museum and Passchendaele 1917 Museum are included.

Individuals are advised to arrange their own travel insurance.

A single room supplement of £25 is payable for all single occupancy

Deposit of £100.00 per person due by 20th May 2017.

Battlefield Tour- Commemorating the 100 years Anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele (Third Ypres) 1917.

Beyond the Battlefield Tours invites you to visit the battlefields around Ypres in Belgium in this the 100^th anniversary year of the Battle of Passchendaele (also known as Third Ypres), over the weekend of 17^th to 19^th November 2017.

The tour will focus on key elements of the battle and events leading up to the battle. The areas to be visited will include, Ploegsteert Wood (known as Plugstreet Wood to British Soldiers), the Irish Peace Tower at Messines, Hill 60 & the Caterpillar Crater, Talbot House and the Execution Post in Poperinge. Also any visit to the area would not be complete without visiting the Passchendaele Museum and paying our respects by laying a wreath at the Menin Gate on the Saturday evening.

Overnight accommodation will be in a 3 Star rated hotel, on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis. Packed lunches will be provided on the Saturday & Sunday.

There will be an opportunity to fill up with duty free goods on the return journey to Calais.

A full itinerary will be will be sent to people attending the tour and every effort will be made to adhere to the this, however this could be subject to change according to local conditions.

Pick up and drop off points will be at:

Norwich Train Station (approximately 08.00hrs 17/11)

Ipswich Train Station (approximately 09.00hrs 17/11)

The return crossing is expected to get back to Dover around 17.00hrs on the 19^th and then return to the Ipswich & Norwich train stations for drop off. The cost for the weekend is £279.00 per person for Suffolk & Norfolk Yeomanry Association members and £299.00 for non-members. Entrance fees for the museums listed on the itinerary are included. Individuals are advised to take out their own travel insurance. A single room supplement of £25 is payable for all single occupancy rooms.  Deposit of £100.00 per person due by 20th May 2017.
