The annual reunion and open day of the Desert Rats Association will take place at the Desert Rats Memorial at High Ash in Thetford Forest (on the A1065 towards Swaffham) on Sunday 15 June 2014.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Normandy invasion and the Desert Rats memorial site was the only training area for the then new Cromwell tanks.  The 7th Armoured Division played a pivotal part in the final push to relieve Europe of the Nazi oppression. The 22nd Armoured brigade of the 7th Armoured Division was the first Armour to land in France and 7th Armoured Division was the first Armour to cross the Rhine and at Churchill’s absolute insistence led the victory parade in Berlin.
